Ledelle Moe was born in 1971 in Durban, South Africa. She currently lives and works in Cape Town, South Africa and serves as the Head of the Sculpture Department at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. In 1993, she graduated from the Technikon Natal, where she studied sculpture. In 1996, she graduated with a Masters degree in sculpture from the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, USA. She proceeded to work in the Sculpture Department at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, USA and later taught at the Corcoran College of Art in Washington DC, USA, Virginia Commonwealth University and at St. Mary’s College of Maryland in Maryland, USA.

In 2022, Moe presented a solo exhibition, titled Fold, at SMAC Gallery in Cape Town, South Africa. Further selected solo exhibitions include 2020’s When at MASS Moca in Massachusetts, USA; Ruptures at Semaphore Gallery in Neuchatel, Switzerland in 2017; Traces, which showed at GUS Gallery in Stellenbosch and at Commune 1 Gallery in Cape Town in 2014; Transitions/ Displacements at Commune 1 Gallery in Cape town and at Kirk Hopper Fine Art in Dallas, USA in 2012; Untitled at Factory Square Fine Arts festival in Cincinnati, USA in 2011; Relief at Crane Arts Gallery in Philadelphia, USA and Erosion at Reynolds Gallery in Richmond, USA in 2010.

In 2023, Moe was included in the RMB Latitudes Art Fair, in Shepstone Gardens, in Johannesburg, and the Investec Cape Town Fair with SMAC Gallery at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in Cape Town, South Africa. Last year, Moe participated in the Congo Biennale in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo and presented work with Smac Gallery at the Investec Cape Town Art Fair.

Selected group exhibitions include Study for Remain as part of Home is Where the Art is at Zeitz Mocaa in Cape Town in 2020; Lament (Exploded Geographies) at the Biennale De Dakar in Dakar, Senegal and Transitions at SMAC Gallery in Stellenbosch in 2018; Tectonic at Hazard Gallery in Johannesburg, South Africa, Lament, Don’t Look Back at MoMo Gallery in Cape Town and Lament II at the Hermanus Festival in the Western Cape, South Africa in 2017; Findings at Page Bond Gallery in Richmond, USA, and Wag at Cape Town Art Fair in Cape Town in 2016.

In 2008, Moe was awarded the Kreeger Museum Artist Award and in 2002, she won the Joan Mitchell Foundation Award.
